  Whatever, there’s nothing inherently wrong with celebrity. Charismatic performers cannot avoid fame, for better or worse. That’s why they need press agents. And bodyguards.

  John’s assassination taught me what I already knew, but needed reminding. Evil won’t disappear unless the human race also disappears. The devil doesn’t walk around with horns, red suit, pointy tail and pitchfork. Instead, he’s another face in the crowd, twisted inwardly by envy, hatred and fear.

  John’s murder didn’t undermine my faith in the essential decency of most people. I still enjoy listening to original Beatles albums on CD. Recently I gave a new “Sergeant Pepper” CD to my grandchildren Rachel (6), and David (4). They loved it. So John lives on.
